Jesús nunca nos prometió una vida libre de dificultades, pero sí nos garantizó su victoria. Descubre cómo encontrar paz duradera en Juan 16:33.

A word of encouragement for difficult days

There are days when the burden of everyday life seems unbearable. Health problems, financial difficulties, family tensions, or simply the uncertainty of the future can fill our hearts with anxiety. As a community at Palm Lake Christian Church/Lifemakers in St. Petersburg, we know how real pain is and how challenging it can be to walk in faith when life's storms rage.

However, in the Gospel according to John, Jesus gives us one of the most honest and consoling statements in all of Scripture:

"These things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have affliction; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." — John 16:33

The honesty of Jesus: "In the world you will have affliction"

The first thing that strikes us about Christ's words is their absolute transparency. Jesus never offered us a gospel of vain illusions or a faith that exempts from trials. He did not say, "Perhaps you will have affliction," but "You will have affliction." Affliction is part of walking in a broken world.

Knowing this frees us from the false guilt of thinking that if we are going through a difficult time it is because we lack faith. Difficulties are not a sign of God's abandonment, but the scenario where his grace is manifested with greater power.

A call for trust: "But trust"

Jesus does not leave history in difficulty. He immediately adds a command full of hope: "But be of good cheer" or "be of good cheer". The peace that Christ offers us is not the absence of problems, but the certainty of his living presence in their midst.

Every Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., when we gather as a church to worship and partake of the sacrament, we remember that God's grace sustains us. At the Lord's table we experience His spiritual presence strengthening our weary hearts and renewing our strength for the week.

The definitive victory: "I have defeated the world"

The foundation of our courage is not in our own ability to overcome obstacles, but in what Jesus has already done for us. By saying, "I have overcome the world," Jesus anticipated the glorious triumph of the cross and the resurrection. He overcame sin, fear, and death itself.

Because Christ reigns and His victory is final, we can look to the future with profound assurance. No problem is greater than our Savior, and no shadow is so dark that it can extinguish the light of His restorative love.

Let's walk together in hope

If you are going through a valley of affliction today, remember that you are not alone. Jesus walks beside you and his victory is yours as well. We invite you to join us this Sunday at 11:00a.m. and 2:00 PM at Palm Lake Christian Church - Lifemakers in St. Petersburg, Florida. Together we worship, seek the face of the Lord, and support each other as a true family of faith.
